Description
1966 Ford Mustang The 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe is a dedicated vintage race car with documented Colorado competition history and approximately 50 years of family ownership. Remaining in the same family since 1976, the Mustang was converted into a race car in 2000 and has been developed with extensive performance equipment while retaining its distinctive first-generation appearance. The engine is based on a post-1984 302 block that has been stroked and bored for racing use. Its internal and top-end equipment includes pop-up pistons, aluminum cylinder heads, guide plates, and roller lifters. A 600 CFM carburetor supplies the engine, while Hooker Super Comp headers and Magnaflow exhaust with an H-pipe complete the exhaust configuration. Power is transmitted through a four-speed Toploader manual transmission equipped with a race-shift kit. The drivetrain includes a racing nine-inch rear axle with a Detroit Locker and racing axles. The chassis has been extensively modified for competition use. Equipment includes a roll cage, four-link rear suspension, custom front suspension modifications with altered control arms, Koni shocks, and front disc brakes with cooling ducts. The suspension has been configured for street and track applications. Inside, the Mustang features racing seats with five-point G-Force harnesses, an emergency electrical disconnect, and additional gauges monitoring engine RPM, oil pressure, engine temperature, and oil temperature. The original dashboard gauges, including the speedometer, do not currently function. The headliner and carpet are in good, newer condition.
